Legal
Privacy policy.
Nitpik respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we keep it safe and when we delete it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- The property address and booking details (date, time, property type, notes).
- Inspection photos and notes about visible cosmetic finishes inside the home.
- Payment confirmation from our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your agreement to our Terms and this policy, with the date and time you agreed.
- A record each time your private report link is opened (date and time, approximate network address, device or browser, and whether the full report or only the payment screen was shown).
- Basic website usage information, as described in section 7.
2. Why we collect it
We use your information only to book, carry out and deliver your inspection, take payment, send receipts and booking messages, answer your enquiries and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
3. Photos and location data
Every inspection photo has its hidden location (GPS) and camera details removed before it is stored, and the street address is removed from the report once it is archived. Photos are kept private and are only visible to Nitpik staff and to you through your private report link. We do not use photos from your inspection in marketing, case studies or social media unless you agree in writing, and we never publish your address.
4. How long we keep it
Once your report has been paid for and delivered to you, we email a copy to our own secure business inbox and then delete the report, its photos, your contact details and the property address from our systems. We keep only an anonymous record (report number, date, amount and receipt number) for accounting and tax purposes. We also keep the record of when your report link was opened, so we can show who accessed it if a security question ever arises; it holds no photos or report content. After this, your report link will show that the report has been delivered and archived — contact us if you need another copy.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the business: secure website and data hosting, our payment provider (Stripe), our email provider (Google). We do not use advertising or tracking services. Some of these providers may store information outside Australia. We do not share your report with your builder, agent or anyone else — the report is yours to share as you choose. We may disclose information if required by law.
6. How we keep it safe
Staff access requires a password and a six-digit two-step sign-in code, and our database refuses staff data to any session without it. Reports and photos are stored privately. Your web report opens from a private link; anyone with the link can view it, so please share it carefully. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and act in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
7. Website and cookies
Website: we do not run Google Ads or any other advertising or tracking tags on this site, and we do not use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. Your browser may store small settings on your device so the site works properly; these are not used to track you.
8. Accessing, correcting or complaining
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@nitpik.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not happy with how we handled a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version you agreed to at booking is recorded with your booking. See also our Terms & scope of service.
