Nitpik — For builders
Give buyers proof,
not promises.
A builder who is genuinely confident in their finish can prove it before a buyer ever thinks to ask. Commission a Nitpik pre-handover pass on your own build, fix what we flag, pass the re-check — and hand over a home that has been independently inspected and cleared.
We call it getting Nitpik'd. It's a badge, not a compliance document — an inspection report and a rectify-then-clear process, backed by photographs and the Guide to Standards and Tolerances 2026.
Why builders do it
A claim becomes a document.
Every builder says their finish is immaculate. Yours can be the one that had someone else check — before the buyer had to ask. Independent eyes turn a claim into a document.
The mark is earned, not issued.
The mark is not for booking an inspection. It's for the state of the home after we've been back. Anything we log has to be rectified and pass a re-check before the home carries it.
Change the conversation entirely.
Buyers arrive at a walkthrough looking for something wrong. Hand them a photographed, clause-cited report you commissioned yourself and the conversation changes shape entirely.
Developments we've defected
The calibre of home we're brought into
A selection of builds Nitpik has inspected before handover — apartments, custom homes and boutique towers across Melbourne's inner east and CBD.

The mark has to be earned
A badge that gets handed out on the strength of a first pass is worth nothing, and everyone in the room knows it. So we don't do that.
Every cosmetic defect we log during the pre-handover pass goes on the record. To carry the Nitpik'd mark, the home has to come back clean: each item rectified, and each rectification re-checked by us on site and marked Rectified, not Outstanding. Homes that don't get there simply don't get the mark — and we'd rather tell you that than dilute it.
To be plain about it: this is an opinion of cosmetic finish quality on the day it was cleared. It isn't a compliance document, a building surveyor's report, or a warranty against defects that appear later.
Public verification
Every Nitpik'd home is issued a reference number. Your buyer can look it up at nitpik.com.au/verify to confirm the mark is genuine and see the date the home was cleared.
How a home gets Nitpik'd
- 01Book the pre-handover passYou book us in before the client walkthrough, not after. Two to three hours on site, whole-home cosmetic sweep.
- 02We inspect and report same-dayEvery item photographed, located by room, and cited to the Guide to Standards and Tolerances 2026. PDF lands the same day.
- 03You rectify what we flaggedYour trades work from our list. No ambiguity, no interpretation — each item has a photo, a location and a tolerance.
- 04We re-check, then it's clearedWe return and mark each original item Rectified or Outstanding. Only a fully rectified home is cleared and carries the Nitpik'd mark for you to show your buyer.
Pricing is negotiated directly — per home, per stage or across a year of settlements. Tell us the shape of your build program and we'll put together rates that suit it.
What a Nitpik report is — and isn't
Worth reading before you put our mark on your work. The scope and limitation summary below applies to every inspection we carry out, including Nitpik'd builder passes.

A same-day PDF report is provided, with one free re-check of original cosmetic items within 90 days.
Not included

- Roof-void or subfloor entry, or invasive opening of walls / linings

No liability
The inspection is limited to cosmetic finishes visible and accessible on the day, under the lighting conditions present at the time. It is an opinion of cosmetic finish quality, not a certificate of compliance, a building surveyor's report, or a warranty of any kind. Nitpik accepts no liability for defects that were concealed, not reasonably visible, or arose after the inspection. Any reliance on the report is at the client's sole risk. Full terms are available on the Terms page.
